History

In 1995, Rev. Samuel Rodriguez joined top tier Hispanic leaders such as Rev. Nick Garza, Rev. Charlie Rivera and others in the strategic coordination and articulation of a National Hispanic Evangelical Ethos. Inspired by the work and call of such great Latino leaders such as Fransisco Olazabal, Ricardo TaƱon, Nicky Cruz, Demetrio Bazan, Victor DeLeon and Dr. Jesse Miranda via The Ministerial Alliance known as AMEN, Hispanic Statewide Conferences began with the purpose of mobilizing Hispanic Leadership in the various parts of the country.
These conferences in partnership with denominational conventions where attendance reached close to 10,000 in the Texas Region, provided an impetus for a National Hispanic Association of Evangelicals. Thus, in 2001, these state wide and regional conferences united the statewide associations of Hispanic evangelicals to formally present a National voice on behalf of the Hispanic Evangelical Church.
Hence, the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference evolved in the model of the National Association of Evangelicals. Immediately the largest Hispanic denominations joined a long with the pastors and networks of the largest Latino churches in America and Puerto Rico. Rev. Felix Posos, Assembly of God Superintendent, served as the founding Chairman.
Today the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference is a board governed association of the Hispanic Evangelical church top tier leaders. The NHCLC is a not for profit religious organization committed to lead the Hispanic Evangelical church by providing leadership, fellowship, networks, partnerships and public policy advocacy. As the preeminent voice in the Hispanic Evangelical Church, the NHCLC is committed in serving the 15 million strong Hispanic Evangelical Church.
